Raspberry Pi fondation mengeluarkan produk baru di awal tahun 2021, yaitu mikrokontroller yang ukurannya kecil dan murah.Raspberry Pi Pico tidak di rancang untuk menggantikan Raspberry Pi keluaran sebelumnya misalnya yang berupa Single Board Komputer Seperti : Raspberry Pi zero, Raspberry Pi 3 atau Raspberry Pi 4 model B. Raspberry Pi Pico di design sebagai alternatif untuk Arduino.Untuk programnya pakai micro python dan C / C++. Raspberry Pi Pico dapat di program Menggunakan Laptop , PC , Raspberry PI Single Board Komputer dan Raspberry Pi Pic.

Raspberry Pi Pico di design sebagai microcontroller untuk kontrol Led, Tombol , motor dan sensor-sensor untuk project2 mikrokontroler, yang sebelumnya sangat mahal kalau pakai Single Board Computer Raspberry Pi.

Komponen Utama pada Raspberry Pi PICO adalah RP2040 yang merupakan Mikrokontroler Chip dengan Dual Core ARM Cortex-M0+ Processor 133MHz Dengan 264 KB internal RAM dan support 16MB untuk Chip-Flash dengan 26 GPIO. Tapi Kelemahan Raspberry Pi Pico tidak ada internal Bluethooth dan Wifi, yang sangat di butuhkan untuk project-project Internet of Things (IOT).
